Moringa Leaves Give Dairy Cows a Healthy Boost
Simple dietary tweak improves milk yield, quality, and cow immunity
Ever thought a simple tree leaf could change the way cows produce milk? That’s exactly what researchers found when they fed Moringa oleifera leaves to Vrindavani cattle.
They took twelve cows, split them into two groups—one on the usual fodder and the other with 10% moringa leaves added. The result? The moringa group ate more, gave more milk, and the milk itself was richer in fat, protein, and natural antioxidants. Even better, their milk had fewer somatic cells, which means healthier udders and lower chances of mastitis.
The benefits didn’t stop at milk. Blood tests showed these cows had more protein and hemoglobin, less cholesterol, and higher levels of growth and thyroid hormones. Their immune systems were also stronger.
In short, a little moringa in the diet made the cows healthier and their milk better—pointing to a natural, affordable way to boost dairy farming.
